NBSC Strengthens Audit Capacity with Successful Internal Quality Audit Training for ISO 9001:2015 Readiness
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) has successfully concluded its two-day Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Training, held on August 12–13, 2025, at Room 208 of the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC). The activity aimed to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the College’s Internal Audit Team in preparation for the forthcoming ISO 9001:2015 certification.
The comprehensive training was facilitated by renowned ASC Consultant and certified ISO expert Mr. Kevin T. Castillon, who guided participants through both fundamental and advanced auditing practices. Topics included audit planning, execution, reporting, follow-up, preparation of audit programs, risk-based internal auditing, and the proper raising of non-conformances and observations. These concepts were reinforced through interactive discussions, practical workshops, and output presentations that allowed participants to apply their learning in simulated audit scenarios.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, Head of the Quality Assurance Office, expressed gratitude for the IQA Team’s commitment to quality improvement, saying:
“This is not the first and the last because twice in a year, we will have our internal audit training.”
He also introduced the members of the IQA Team, followed by a pre-test session to assess participants’ baseline knowledge.
The second day of training further developed participants’ expertise through advanced sessions on risk-based audit execution and comprehensive audit reporting. The program concluded with a post-test to evaluate knowledge retention, followed by the closing message from NBSC SUC President, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE, who underscored the strategic importance of internal auditors to the institution:
“Your role as internal auditors is very crucial, especially in ensuring the effectiveness of our quality management systems.”
Beyond refining audit processes, the training reinforced the values of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. With the enhanced capabilities of its Internal Audit Team, NBSC is now better prepared to uphold its mission of delivering high-quality education and services, anchored on internationally recognized quality management standards. The success of this activity was made possible through the dedication of the Quality Assurance Office, under the leadership of Dr. Lerongan, and the strong support of Dr. Ganiera.
