NBSC Stands with Hope and Healing this World Suicide Prevention Day
Northern Bukidnon State College’s Guidance and Counseling Office (NBSC-GCO) joined the global observance of World Suicide Prevention Day by hosting a seminar on September 10, 2025. With the theme “Hope in Action: Promoting Awareness and Prevention against Suicide,” the activity reached students, faculty, and staff through Zoom and Facebook Live.
The seminar featured resource speakers Maria Michaela Q. Jamora, MS, RPsy, and Genno P. Matondo, RSW, RGC, who shared their expertise on mental health awareness and emotional resilience. They emphasized suicide as a pressing concern affecting students, families, and academic communities, while shedding light on the hidden struggles many young people face.
Discussions focused on the importance of raising awareness, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, and fostering supportive relationships. Participants were guided on practical ways to encourage early help-seeking, nurture open communication, and build compassionate communities. Above all, the seminar delivered a message of hope—affirming that no student should feel alone in their journey when care and collective compassion are present.
NBSC expresses its gratitude to College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE for her unwavering support of the initiative, as well as to the seminar facilitators, speakers, and participants for their meaningful contributions to the cause.
As an institution, Northern Bukidnon State College remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting student well-being and holistic development. By supporting initiatives that raise awareness on mental health and suicide prevention, NBSC continues to uphold its mission of fostering a safe, compassionate, and inclusive academic environment where every learner can thrive.
