NBSC-ITE CONDUCTS OCULAR VISIT AND NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR EXTENSION PROJECTS UNDER SULIP
The Institute for Teacher Education (ITE) of Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) conducted an ocular visit and needs assessment on October 15, 2025, as part of the implementation of its extension projects for the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) in Mathematics and English, and the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) programs under the Sustainable Literacy and Inclusivity Program (SuLIP).
These projects aim to support teacher education initiatives, with BSEd focusing on subject-specific enhancement in Mathematics and English, and BEEd emphasizing Reading Literacy interventions for early-grade learners. The overall goal of these projects is to strengthen instructional practices and promote literacy development among learners in partner schools.
The visitation covered Guilang-guilang Integrated School, Brgy. Guilang-guilang, Santiago Integrated School, Brgy. Santiago, Maluko Central Elementary School, Maluko National High School, and Brgy. Maluko. This initiative also served to strengthen collaboration between NBSC and its partner schools, ensuring that extension programs respond to real educational needs within the community.
During the activity, the ITE team conducted assessments to determine the instructional and learning needs of the schools, with secondary programs identifying areas for academic improvement and teacher support, while the Elementary Project on Reading Literacy worked with teachers to gather lists of struggling readers in preparation for the literacy intervention program in partnership with Mission Alba.
The activity was conducted with the full support of Mr. Alven L. Gomez, MS EST, Director of the Community Extension Services Division and Dr. Christine C. Royo, Program Head of the Institute for Teacher Education.
The visiting team was composed of Ms. Noraisah U. Radaza, MA, Research Extension Coordinator; Dr. Jonel C. Murillo; Ms. Marites L. Salce, MA; Mr. Jovenel B. Dadulla, MA; and Ms. Mary Ann Charmaine O. Tapulayan-Dumana, MA.
Through SuLIP, NBSC-ITE continues its strong commitment to advancing community engagement, promoting literacy development, and fostering inclusive education—strengthening the bond between the College and its partner communities.
