NBSC conducts DRRM Forum for NSTP students

Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) recently held a Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Forum for National Service Training Program (NSTP) students on April 26, 2023, at the NBSC Covered Court. The event was spearheaded by the NSTP office headed by Mr. John Mark L. Boyonas, MAEng.

More than 700 NSTP students participated in the activity from both CWTS and ROTC components. The forum aimed to raise the students’ awareness of disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies. 

During his opening remarks, Mr. Boyonas urged the students to use and apply the knowledge gained from the forum to help their communities during unexpected disasters. He also emphasized the importance of acquiring resilience skills to manage and cope with disasters effectively.

The forum was led by Mr. Ryan C. Ruiz, RN, LDRRMO III, a representative from the LGU Manolo Fortich Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO), who served as the resource speaker. Two other LDRRMO representatives, Mr. Rosseau Clerigo and Mr. Marcklin P. Pelisco, were present as observers. The discussion focused on the significance of disaster preparedness and response, as well as how students can contribute to developing safer and more resilient communities. The participants also engaged in interactive activities during the forum.

The event ended with words of gratitude for the students, resource speaker, faculty, and staff whose contributions made the forum a success.
