NBSC STRENGTHENS ALS TEACHERS’ COMPETENCE THROUGH DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP TRAINING
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its Institute of Computer Studies (ICS) and the Community Extension Services Division (CESD), successfully conducted the orientation program “Empowering Community ALS Teachers through Digital Citizenship” on November 8, 2025, at the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC).
The program forms part of the ICS banner extension project, “Digital Literacy for ALS Implementers and Teachers,” which focuses on Learning Strand 6: Digital Citizenship of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) curriculum. This initiative aims to enhance the digital competence of ALS teachers, empowering them to effectively guide learners toward responsible, safe, and ethical use of technology in the digital age.
In his welcome address, Mr. Alven L. Gomez, CESD Designate Director, underscored NBSC’s continuing commitment to supporting community educators through relevant digital and extension initiatives. Ms. Kathlea Kristine De Los Santos, ALS Teacher from Manolo Fortich I District, delivered an insightful session on Digital Citizenship, while Mr. Alfredo De Los Santos, Education Program Specialist and ALS Focal Person, expressed his support and appreciation for the college’s collaborative efforts.
Ms. Cristine S. Sagoasao, ICS Extension Coordinator, presented the project background, scope, and timeline, and led the distribution of commitment forms to participating ALS teachers. The activity concluded with Ms. Shiela Mae M. Orozco, Department Head of ICS, delivering the closing remarks, reaffirming NBSC’s mission to promote inclusive, technology-driven education for community development.
The organizers extended their heartfelt gratitude to the unwavering support of NBSC President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, and OIC-Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Benzar Glen S. Grepon, whose leadership and encouragement made the successful implementation of the program possible.
