NBSC Strengthens Quality Standards Through ISO Awareness Training
With the determination to achieve ISO certification, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) successfully concluded the ISO 9001:2015 Awareness Training, marking both the end of the two-day session and the beginning of the institution’s journey toward quality excellence.
The training kicked off on April 7, 2025, with Mr. Kevin T. Castillon, ASC Operations Head, and NBSC’s consultant, serving as the resource speaker. He delivered in-depth discussions on the key components of ISO 9001:2015, equipping participants with foundational knowledge to support the college’s quality management initiatives.
Spearheaded by the Quality Assurance Office under the leadership of Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, the training aimed to prepare NBSC employees for the targeted ISO certification by last quarter of 2025. Dr. Lerongan underscored the significance of this endeavor by sharing 11 compelling reasons for securing the certification. These include boosting institutional credibility and public trust, ensuring quality and consistency in services, complying with government mandates, qualifying for the performance-based bonus, enhancing operational efficiency, improving stakeholder satisfaction, cultivating a culture of continual improvement, supporting accreditation and ISA sustainability, and gaining global recognition and competitiveness.
In her message of support, College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, expressed her delight at the progress:
“I am glad that this plan, which was once a promise during the public forum, is now becoming a reality. ISO is the globally recognized standard for quality management systems, specifically ISO 9001:2015. As we move forward on this path to certification, I hope everyone will fully embrace the journey.”
To further inspire the NBSC community, Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera introduced a powerful mnemonic for ISO—Innovation, Support, and Ownership—as a guiding principle to help the institution achieve its quality goals within the year.
NBSC faculty and staff will undergo a series of training on documentation, risk management, and audits as part of the institution’s comprehensive preparation for ISO certification. Guided by a shared commitment and unified vision, NBSC is poised to stride confidently toward ISO 9001:2015 certification and beyond.
