Project SULIP: Fostering Educational Innovation to Manolo Fortich’s Isolated Communities
In its plight towards fulfilling its vital role in supporting communities, Northern Bukidnon State College through the Research Extension Office initiated its reconnaissance visit as a kick-off innovative project in education called Sustainable Learning and Linkage to Isolated Places (SULIP) on February 14, 2024.
Project SULIP is a one-year collaborative project among isolated communities in Manolo Fortich and the Teacher Education Program. The partners will explore innovative teaching methodologies and resources for teaching literacy and creating training avenues among faculty, daycare workers, and TEP students.
Extension Office Director, Alven Gomez, MA alongside the TEP project proponents, Dean of TEP, Dr. Christine C. Royo and Lizbeth Jill G. Palomar visited the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and also the Day Care Center partners in Barangays Kalugmanan, Lindaban, Sankanan, and Dahilayan. The purpose of the visit is to establish a personal connection, clarify expectations and goals, and ensure understanding and agreement on the project terms.
One of the project members, TEP Instructor Lizbeth Jill G. Palomar, shares the inspiration behind the project “The inspiration of the project really is to help the Child Development Centers in these isolated places. We are inspired with this project because these young children will be benefiting from this extension project through tailor-made instructional materials that are based on data.”
The project envisions flourishing and sustainable extension programs to enrich quality education with the help of external and internal stakeholders. The visit prompts expected sealing of Memorandum of Understanding with NBSC and research partners.
