NBSC Seminar Explores Effective Feedback Practices: A Collaborative Approach to Excellence
Northern Bukidnon State College held a transformative two-day seminar on the value of feedback on November 7 and 8, 2023, underscoring its commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning. The seminar, “2F3C Framework Implementation: The Value of Feedbacking”, delves into the complexities of effective feedback practices and their profound impact on both educators and students.
In her opening remarks, NBSC College President, Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, eloquently captured the essence of feedback as she aptly defined it as “a duality of giving and receiving helpful comments and suggestions to and from others,” highlighting its role in fostering growth, both personally and professionally.
Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, skillfully guided the participants through the intricacies of the C2AST2LE framework, which stands for “Creating a Culture for the Advancement of the Art and Science of Transformative Teaching and Learning.” This framework serves as a roadmap for cultivating a feedback-rich environment that empowers educators to enhance their teaching methods and students to optimize their learning outcomes.
The seminar actively engaged participants in sharing their best feedback practices, creating a dynamic exchange of ideas and experiences. Additionally, the Fish Bone activity provided a hands-on approach to exploring effective and collaborative implementation of feedback in the classroom, empowering participants to apply the acquired knowledge in their respective classes.
Dr. Helen E. Maasin, the Vice President for Administration and Finance, echoed the importance of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging everyone to embrace feedback as an integral part of their professional journey. She emphasized that feedback, when embraced wholeheartedly, serves as a catalyst for growth, enabling educators to refine their craft and provide the best quality education to their students.
The “2F3C Framework Implementation” is in its third year of continuous implementation. It stands as a testament to NBSC’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and learning. By equipping its faculty and staff with the knowledge and tools to effectively implement feedback practices, the college is empowering its educators to become catalysts for transformative learning, shaping the future of its students and the wider community.
