Project SuLIP: A Step Closer to Promoting Literacy to Isolated Places in Manolo Fortich
Project SuLIP (Sustainable Learning and Linkage to Isolated Places) of the Northern Bukidnon State College Teacher Education Program is on its way to realizing the goals of its project through conducting the training workshop on Reading Literacy at the NBSC Covered Court on October 23, 2024.
The training was conducted by Louela B. Galon from Mission ALBA (Advocacy for Literacy Building and Acceleration) for the Second-Year Teacher Education Program students, who will be the core implementers of the project.
The scope of Project SuLIP includes organizing training sessions and creating educational materials for Child Development Centers in four specifically chosen barangays: Lindaban, Kalugmanan, Sankanan, and Dahilayan. This initiative benefits the children in these communities by enhancing their literacy skills and provides NBSC faculty and students with a platform to apply and showcase innovative teaching methods. This initiative aims to empower Child Development workers and Teacher Education students while enhancing literacy skills among young learners in remote areas of Manolo Fortich.
The program head, Dr. Christine C. Royo, revealed the above rationale, highlighting the importance of reading literacy to education students and how the project aims to contribute to the community. During the workshop, The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, fully supported the program and graced the participants with her presence, sharing her words of encouragement to the TEP faculty and students.
Project SuLIP is the TEP’s extension project in coordination with the Extension Office. Through SuLIP, NBSC will conduct training workshops and develop learning materials for Child Development Centers in four identified barangays: Lindaban, Kalugmanan, Sankanan, and Dahilayan. NBSC faculty and students will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by demonstrating innovative teaching methodologies in these communities.
