The new College of Computer Studies was inaugurated last May 2021; the square shape indicates the central processing unit (CPU) which is the brain of the computer. The 3 areas inside elaborates the technical specialized skills that the college aims to deliver to its students. The three major areas are: Programming, Multimedia, and Internet of Things.

For many years, theย College of Computer Studiesย atย Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC)ย had been the cornerstone of ICT education, producing graduates who were technically skilled and academically prepared to enter the growing field of technology.

However, with the arrival ofย President CHRISTIE JEAN VILLANUEVA-GANIERA, EdD., CESEย ย and her forward-looking leadership, a new vision began to unfold โ€” one that recognized the rapidly changing demands of the digital world. It was no longer enough to focus solely on traditional computer-related disciplines. There was a need toย expand, modernize, and redefine the identityย of the institutionโ€™s technology program.

This vision led to a bold move: the transformation of the College of Computer Studies into theย Institute for Computer Studies (ICS).

The change was more than just a name. It marked aย reinvigoration of purposeย โ€” to provide a moreย integrated, innovative, andย industry-responsive ICT education. The Institute is now focused not only on technical excellence but also onย developing students whoย can communicate, lead, and adaptย in an increasingly complex and connected world.

Theย Institute for Computer Studiesย aspires to be a hub ofย technological advancement and academic excellence, committed to shaping ICT professionals who areย globally competitive, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.

Under the guidance of President Christe Jean, ICS stands as a testament to NBSCโ€™s mission of shaping future-ready learners โ€” individuals who are not just prepared for the present, but for theย dynamic, digital future that lies ahead.

academic program

Theย Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT)ย atย Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC)ย under theย Institute of Computing Studies (ICS)ย is a forward-looking program crafted to produceย well-rounded, ethical, and globally competitive IT professionals.

This four-year degree program combinesย theoretical foundationsย withย practical skillsย in computing and information systems. Students are exposed toย modern tools, updated curriculum, and industry-relevant trainingย in areas like:

  • Programming and software development

  • Web and mobile applications

  • Computer networks and system administration

  • Database systems and data management

  • Cybersecurity fundamentals

  • IT infrastructure and project management

Throughย hands-on laboratory work,ย real-world projects, andย collaboration with industries, students developย critical thinking, technical competence, and adaptabilityโ€”qualities essential in the ever-evolving tech industry.

Why Itโ€™s Great to Take IT Today

  1. High Demand and Global Opportunities
The digital transformation of businesses and governments has made IT one of the most in-demand fields worldwide. Whether locally or abroad, IT professionals are needed in almost every sectorโ€”from education and healthcare to business and agriculture.

  2. Versatile and Dynamic Career Paths
IT graduates are not boxed into one job. They can work asย software developers, systems analysts, network administrators, cybersecurity specialists, database managers, and more. Plus, the freelance and startup ecosystem is booming for tech professionals.

  3. Innovation and Impact
IT is not just about codingโ€”itโ€™s aboutย solving problems,ย creating solutions, andย changing lives. Students who take IT have the opportunity toย innovate systemsย that benefit their communities and the world at large.

  4. Continuous Learning and Personal Growth
Because technology evolves rapidly, IT fosters a mindset ofย lifelong learning. Students not only become professionals butย adaptive thinkersโ€”ready to learn new skills and technologies as needed.

  5. Empowerment and Accessibility
In a rural and developing region like Bukidnon, taking IT empowers students to bridge digital divides, modernize local industries, andย become change agentsย in their own communities.
