NBSC participates in National Referee Candidate and Refresher Course

Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – The Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) participated in the National Referee Candidate and Refresher Course from May 3-7, 2023, held at the Limketkai Mall Event Center and Cagayan de Oro National High School in Cagayan de Oro City. Mr. Anthony D. Sanchez, NBSC Director for Culture and Arts, and Ms. Grace P. Quiblat, NBSC Sports Coordinator, represented NBSC.

The event, hosted by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) in partnership with the Northern Mindanao Volleyball Association of Coaches and Referees (NORMINVACAR), aimed to update and enhance the knowledge and skills of coaches and referees in officiating volleyball games.

During the course, participating officials engaged in interactive workshops facilitated by esteemed trainers from the PNVF, namely Mr. Yul C. Benosa, a UAAP and PVL Chief Referee, and Mr. Adrian Tabanag. These trainers shared their expertise, providing in-depth knowledge of the latest rules and regulations in volleyball. Participants also had the opportunity to analyze videos and engage in practical on-court officiating, receiving valuable feedback to improve their skills.

The successful participants, including the NBSC delegates, were honored with certification from the PNVF and the Northern Mindanao Volleyball Association, officially recognizing them as Certified National Referees.

Looking ahead, NBSC is committed to sharing its newfound expertise by conducting training sessions for physical education teachers and organizing officiating clinics for students. These initiatives aim to contribute to the growth of volleyball in schools and communities, further enhancing the sport’s development.
