Northern Bukidnon State College Research Team Conducts Result Validation for the Research on the Influence of Infrastructure Projects on Peace and Development in Select Conflict-Affected Areas of Mindanao
The research team from Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) recently conducted a result validation for their study titled “Influence of Infrastructure Projects on Peace and Development in Select Conflict-Affected Areas of Mindanao” in collaboration with the 52nd Engineer Brigade (EBde) of the Philippine Army. The visit aimed to validate research results focused on identifying the direct benefits of road projects in terms of peace and socioeconomic factors and assessing client satisfaction and trust with public services provided by the 52nd Engineer Brigade. The results of this research hold significant implications for local government units, policymakers, Army Engineers, and other government agencies keen on improving services to their constituents and communities.
The research validation, part of a partnership project between NBSC and the 52nd Engineering Brigade, was based on a survey conducted in May 2023 in Mindanao Areas. The team successfully presented the validation results to the municipalities and battalions under the 52nd Engineering Brigade, receiving appreciation from Brigade Commander BGen Francis Marlon S. Wong for the collaborative effort.
Validation results covered several areas, including Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, for the 524 Construction Battalion; Arakan, North Cotabato, for the 512 Construction Battalion; Talaingod, Davao del Norte, for the 534 Construction Battalion; and Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, for the 544 Construction Battalion. Participants included representatives from municipal governments, barangay captains, councilors, workers, and key officials in local government units.
The research team comprised Ms. Jellian Grace C. Mabale (Team Leader), Mr. Alven L. Gomez, Mr. Julius S. Gabinete, Ms. Ma. Cassandra R. Tubongbanua, Ms. Cristine Joy G. Sagaosao, Ms. Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas, Mr. Adonis J. Onahon, and Moreno D. Idulsa Jr. The team expressed gratitude to College President Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, Vice Presidents Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa and Dr. Helen E. Maasin, and Research Director Ms. Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas for the opportunity, to solidify the College’s mission to implement a socially relevant research program, projects, and activities.
Key findings from the report highlighted a direct correlation between robust infrastructure and economic growth. Communities with well-developed transportation, communication, and infrastructure experienced higher levels of economic prosperity and societal well-being. The study’s findings are expected to inspire a paradigm shift in global strategies, encouraging collaborative efforts to prioritize infrastructure as a catalyst for enduring peace and shared prosperity. In the face of unprecedented global challenges, this research stands as a beacon of hope, providing a roadmap for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
