COLLEGE PRESIDENT

college president's introduction

On October 21, 2024, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) proudly welcomed Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, ED.D, CESE, as our new president. With her extensive experience in higher education and proven leadership at Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC), Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera is poised to guide NBSC to greater heights.

During her tenure as President of DdOSC (2016–2024), Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera emphasized quality assurance and institutional development. She led initiatives to improve internal processes, including reviewing the ISO Quality Management System Manual, ensuring financial transparency, and fostering faculty and staff development. These efforts reflect her commitment to excellence and innovation, which will benefit NBSC as we move forward.

NBSC’s journey has been shaped by visionary leadership. Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, NBSC’s first president, transformed the institution from a school into a state college. Her dedication was instrumental in ensuring that NBSC met the challenges of modern education. Following Dr. Almaden’s tenure, Dr. Joy M. Mirasol played significant leadership roles at both Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) and Bukidnon State University (BukSU). At NBSC, she served as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) President from July to September 2024, ensuring stability and continuity during the institution’s transition.

Now, with Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera at the helm, NBSC is ready to build on these solid foundations. Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera brings innovation, passion for education, and a strong commitment to academic excellence. Her leadership focuses on institutional growth, community service, and fostering innovation.

Upon assuming the presidency, Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera introduced “CPR”—Cleanliness, Punctuality, and Respect—as guiding principles for the NBSC community. These core values are essential for creating a positive and productive environment, which will contribute to collective success and a strong institutional culture.

We are confident that Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera’s leadership will inspire the entire NBSC community to strive for excellence and solidify our standing as a leading institution of higher learning in Northern Mindanao and beyond.

As we welcome Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera, we also express our gratitude to Doc. Catherine and Doc. Joy for their invaluable contributions. Under Dr. Villanueva-Ganiera’s guidance, NBSC will continue to thrive, innovate, and reach new milestones in serving our community and the region.

Creating Futures, Transforming Lives, Guided by God.
