UNESCO-Funded “LIHOK” Batch 1 Holds Culminating Activity
On December 11, 2023, the first batch of the LIHOK Program participants held a culminating activity at the Northern Bukidnon State College Boardroom.
With the theme, “LIHOK: Capacitating Higher Education Teachers in integrating GCED values in their lessons utilizing the design thinking framework”, the program commenced on November 17 with an orientation on GCED and the design thinking framework.
In the following weeks, 23 select participants from the different academic programs including the College of Computer Science (CCS), Teacher Education Program (TEP), Business Administration (BA) Department, and the General Education Curriculum (GEC), revised their course syllabi to reflect GCED values identified in LIHOK, which stands for “Leading the community to value Interconnectedness, Harmony, Open-mindedness, and Kindness.”
The program concluded on December 11, with the participants presenting their revised syllabi to the Program Heads, Dr. Christine C. Royo (TEP), Ms. Shiela Mae M. Orozco (CCS), Ms. Roseanne B. Lontian (BA), and Mr. Rolan L. Mancha (GEC), as well as the College President, Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden. The participants also performed an original song composition on the culture of peace. Both song presentations and revised syllabi will be forwarded to UNESCO.
LIHOK is funded by UNESCO APCEIU for the Mentorship & Grant Programme of the 2023 Asia-Pacific Training Workshop on Education for International Understanding. The LIHOK project is spearheaded by Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), and co-facilitated by GEC instructors, Ms. Johnyets A. Rollan and Ms. Jee Ann Marie E. Guibone, with the assistance of the VPAA Office.
