NBSC RESEARCH DIRECTOR SERVES AS RESOURCE SPEAKER AT REGIONAL ADOLESCENT PREGNANCY SUMMIT
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) actively participated in regional development initiatives as Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, the college’s Research, Development, and Innovation Division (RDID) Director, served as a key resource person at the recent Adolescent Pregnancy Summit.
Organized by the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region X, the summit took place on November 12 and 13, 2025, at Chali Beach Resort, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. The gathering aimed to unify stakeholders in a concerted effort to lower rates of adolescent pregnancy and promote sustainable human development across Northern Mindanao.
Dr. Acuesa’s contribution was anchored on her leadership of the study titled “Factors Influencing the Incidence of Teenage Pregnancy in Region X.” Endorsed by the Regional Development Council (RDC) and conducted as an institutional research initiative of NBSC, the study provided critical, data-driven insights into the root causes of early pregnancy in the area. Her presentation offered attendees an evidence-based perspective, ensuring that the strategies discussed were grounded in the actual realities and conditions facing the local youth.
This engagement highlights how NBSC’s scholarly output directly informs public policy and social advocacy. By elevating institutional research to the regional stage, the college demonstrates that its scientific inquiries are effectively moving beyond the campus to drive tangible solutions for the broader community.
