NBSC-PAIO FACILITATES DIGITAL STORYTELLING FOR PUBLIC SERVICE TRAINING
The Public Affairs and Information Office of Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC-PAIO), in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency–Northern Mindanao (PIA-NorthMin), conducted a two-day training titled “Digital Storytelling for Public Service: Training on Multimedia Production and Government News Writing” on June 17–18, 2026, at the College’s Learning Resource Center (LRC).
The two-day training was attended by various employees together with a few office heads. The first day focused on photography, videography, and visual storytelling facilitated by Shaun Alejandrae Y. Uy, Information Officer II of PIA-NorthMin.
Mr. Uy shared a brief background of photography, a few technical aspects, and best practices. He emphasized the thought process of taking a photograph by stating “Think before you shoot”. Quoting from his former mentor, he poignantly said “Kung wala kang kwento, wala kang kwenta”, in reference to the photographs taken. He also discussed key points in video production. It was followed by a workshop that concluded with a presentation of one-minute video reels. The reels showcased an introduction of a selected NBSC office and were produced by three-member groups formed among the participants.
The second day focused on news writing. Topics covered the different components of a news story, including headlines, lead paragraphs, key details, and supporting information. They were discussed by Rechtie T. Paculba, Information Officer III of the same agency: PIA – NorthMin. In the workshop, participants were tasked with writing an effective headline, compelling leads, aided by the ABCs of Writing a News Story. Critique sessions for each work followed. Ms. Paculba assigned the completion of a news article as a take-home exercise.
College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, expressed her support for the training through her inspirational message and presence during the culmination activities. She also challenged participants to partner with the PAIO in effectively communicating and documenting the College’s stories and accomplishments.
