General Description of the Functions of the Office

The Research Ethics Office (REO) is an office under the Office of the College President. It is a vital administrative component of the Research Ethics Committee (REC), tasked with budgeting and financial management. It is committed to ensuring that all research, both within and outside the institution, adheres to ethical standards by submitting protocols for REC review, ensuring compliance with relevant data collection requirements and permits, and facilitating training and capacity building for REC members and researchers. Furthermore, the REO manages the daily administrative operations related to the REC and offers support and guidance to researchers throughout the ethical review process.

Objectives

The Research Ethics Office (REO), promotes ethical research by providing ongoing education
and training, reviewing research involving human participants, and offering clear guidelines and resources. It supports informed consent, addresses ethical issues, raises awareness, evaluates its procedures, and collaborates with stakeholders to uphold research ethics within the institution.
