NBSC CONCLUDES CURRICULUM REVIEW AND ENHANCEMENT THROUGH STRONG STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND ACADEMIC QUALITY INITIATIVES
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) successfully concluded the second day of its Curriculum Review and Enhancement (CRE) activity on May 19, 2026, at Dreams Golftel and Residences in San Miguel, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. It emphasized the vital role of stakeholder engagement in strengthening and refining the College’s curricular offerings for Academic Year 2027-2028.
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs led the overall conduct and academic direction of the CRE initiative under the leadership of Jovelyn G. Delosa, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Delosa spearheaded the curriculum review and enhancement processes to ensure alignment with institutional goals and academic quality standards.
The implementation and coordination of the two-day activity were facilitated by the Curriculum and Instruction Division headed by Mary Cris J. Go, Ph.D., Director. Dr. Go supervised the workshops, curriculum deliberations, stakeholder consultations, and academic planning sessions focused on curriculum enhancement and program expansion initiatives.
The Quality Assurance Office, under the supervision of Daniel S. Lerongan, Ph.D., ensured that reviewed and proposed programs aligned with institutional quality assurance frameworks and regulatory standards. Dr. Lerongan also guided the quality assurance dimensions of the curricular review process.
The second day focused on stakeholder engagement, gathering insights and recommendations from representatives of parents, students, and alumni regarding proposed academic programs and curricular revisions.
Representing the parents during the consultation was Mrs. Ana Lourdes E. Peñalas. The student sector was represented by Central Student Government (CSG) President Dwight Ferdinand C. Navarro together with Ms. Kethel Diadem I. Gumban. Representing the alumni sector were Ms. Home Nissi Lou P. Jaraula, Mr. Franklin Jan G. Gutang, and Ms. Caisy Lee U. Dominto.
Throughout the engagement sessions, stakeholders shared their experiences, perspectives, and recommendations on course offerings, subject distribution, program relevance, and curriculum implementation. Discussions highlighted the importance of developing responsive academic programs that address emerging educational demands, workforce needs, and community needs.
Among the proposed academic offerings presented during the consultations were the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), represented by Dr. Sheilou Amor B. Ubagan; the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BSEntrep), represented by Ms. Ma. Cassandra R. Tubongbanua; the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Filipino (BSEd Filipino), headed by Dr. Christine C. Royo and assisted by Dr. Dulce Amor S. Loquias; the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science (BSEd Science), also headed by Dr. Royo and with assistance from Ms. Helen B. Ajon; and the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics (BTLED-HE), likewise headed by Dr. Royo and assisted by Mr. Joseph Joshua A. Palapar.
The successful conduct of the CRE activity reflects NBSC’s continuing commitment to academic excellence, curriculum responsiveness, stakeholder participation, and institutional quality assurance. Insights and recommendations gathered from the consultations are expected to contribute significantly to the development of more relevant, learner-centered, and future-responsive academic programs for the College.
