NBSC EXPLORES LIBRARY INNOVATIONS AT B.A.S.A. 2026
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through Head of the Learning Resource Center Dr. Ermelina C. Bardilas, participated in B.A.S.A. 2026: Building, Advancing, Sharing, and Amplifying Library Innovations, a two-day library benchmarking and knowledge-exchange conference held on September 16-17, 2026, at the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Sogod Campus in Sogod, Southern Leyte. Guided by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Michelle Aguilar Ong, the gathering brought together representatives from 22 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to examine practices and innovations in academic library development.
The conference showcased SLSU’s approach to its Learning Commons and Library Services, particularly its integration of physical and digital learning resources. Discussions also covered institutional development, internationalization, sustainability, and disaster risk reduction, reflecting the wider role of academic libraries in supporting the operations and priorities of higher education institutions.
The institutional exchange gave delegates a closer view of SLSU’s facilities, systems, and programs while providing opportunities to compare practices across SUCs. Rather than focusing solely on library operations, the activity highlighted how spaces, technology, planning, and partnerships can contribute to a more responsive learning environment.
For NBSC, Dr. Bardilas’ involvement offered perspectives that may inform the College’s continuing work in learning resource management and library development. The observations from SLSU provide points for consideration as NBSC looks at ways to improve access to information and make its learning spaces more responsive to students and faculty.
The engagement also strengthened NBSC’s connection to the wider professional community of SUC libraries, where institutional experiences can open possibilities for future collaboration and improvement. Through exchanges such as B.A.S.A. 2026, the College gains fresh perspectives that can help shape learning resource services in step with the changing needs of its academic community.
