Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its College and Board Secretary Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas, participated in the Governance Strengthening for Effective SUC Oversight (Gov-SESO) Board Secretary Training Program, held on October 19-21, 2026, at Connor Serviced Residences in San Juan City, Metro Manila. Sereñas successfully completed the three-day training and received special recognition as one of the participants with the highest post-test scores.
The training was conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), under the Elevating Leadership and Institutional Capacity Towards Excellence in Philippine Higher Education (ELITE-PHE) Project. It aims to strengthen the functional and behavioral competencies of Board Secretaries serving the country’s 113 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
The training focused on three key competency areas: executive governance support, board documentation, and institutional stewardship. It sought to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in providing governance support, managing board documents, and maintaining institutional governance records.
NBSC’s participation reflects the College’s continuing support for personnel development and its commitment to strengthening institutional governance. The knowledge and skills gained from the training are expected to contribute to the effective performance of board secretariat functions at the College.
