Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its Quality Assurance Office, conducted a Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Appreciation Session via Zoom on November 4, 2026, to deepen the institution’s understanding of the PQA framework and strengthen its commitment to organizational excellence, quality management, and continuous improvement.
Engr. Angelica Cortero-Fraginal, the resource speaker, provided an overview of the PQA Performance Excellence Framework, highlighting its seven categories and their role in guiding institutions toward improved organizational performance and sustained excellence.
In his opening remarks, Vice President for Administration and Finance John Kevin A. Artuz, MS, JD, emphasized that the orientation was intended to be more than an informational briefing, highlighting its importance in strengthening the institution’s collective commitment to quality and accountability.
“Today’s orientation is therefore more than a briefing, but it is an opportunity for us to strengthen our shared commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement,” he said.
Meanwhile, SUC President Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, in her closing message, underscored the importance of integrating quality into every aspect of the College’s operations, particularly in ensuring meaningful outcomes for its learners.
“Let us remember that quality in excellence should be reflected in how we live, how we work, how we serve, and the results we achieve. So as I always say, at NBSC, every learner matters, and if every learner matters, then the quality of everything we do matters as well,” she said.
The Philippine Quality Award is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance. Institutionalized through Republic Act No. 9013, signed on February 28, 2001, it provides an internationally comparable framework for assessing organizational performance. Its seven categories are Leadership; Strategy; Customer; Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management; Workforce; Operations; and Results.
The activity forms part of NBSC’s continuing efforts to promote performance excellence, strengthen institutional accountability, and embed quality management practices across the College.
