NBSC showcases Innovative GCED Initiatives at International Global Citizenship Education Conference at Seoul, Korea
The Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa of Northern Bukidnon State College, participated in two significant events organized by the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) from September 2-6, 2024, in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The events included the 2nd Advanced Workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) for alumni. Moreover, she was also invited as a speaker at the 9th International Conference on GCED (IConGCED) with the theme “Revitalizing Multilateralism for Peace through GCED.”
The Advanced Workshop on GCED was specifically designed for alumni of APCEIU’s training programmes who have actively implemented GCED initiatives in their educational settings. The workshop provided a platform for these educators to share their experiences, deepen their GCED competencies, and discuss UNESCO’s “Recommendation on Education for Peace and Human Rights, International Understanding, Cooperation, Fundamental Freedoms, Global Citizenship, and Sustainable Development (2023).”
Dr. Delosa, who was also a member of the panel for Concurrent Session 2.1 at the 9th IConGCED, presented insights into the Philippines’ efforts to promote GCED. Her presentation focused on enhancing teacher development and improving the learning environment to advance global citizenship education in the country.
The workshop featured an alumni forum where participants shared their initiatives and impacts with peers, mentors, and GCED experts. It also facilitated dialogues aimed at strategizing future actions and reinforcing the role of educators as transformative agents in building a just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
Dr. Delosa’s contributions highlighted the vital role of education in addressing global challenges and underscored Northern Bukidnon State College’s commitment to advancing global citizenship education.
