NBSC SSO taps DOH, MDRRMO, BFP for Basic Life Support and Disaster Response Training

Manolo Fortich Bukidnon – Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through the initiative of the Safety and Security Office (SSO) headed by Mr. Fritchar H. Gevero facilitates a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Disaster Response Training participated by selected students, faculty and staff on September 27 – 29, 2022 at the NBSC Covered Court.

The training was led by the Department of Health (DOH) X, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) of Manolo Fortich, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) R10 Manolo Fortich.

On day 1, DOH Officer, Mr. Jasper Kent M. Ola, RN discussed the emergency action principle. Participants were then oriented on how to perform proper Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by another DOH Officer, Mr. Glenn D. Rabuyo, HPO I.

The day 2 focused on basic first aid techniques. The participants were guided on how to provide initial care during an injury or illness which included proper bandaging of wounds. The rescuers from MDRRMO led by Ms. Evelyn O. Nanale also demonstrated the correct way of lifting and moving the patient during an emergency response.

Officers from BFP R10 Manolo Fortich – FO2 Juan M. Derayunan II, FO2 Julius G. Cloma, FO1 Sheila Mae S. Landicho, and FO1 Steve Lawrence Perillo directed the day 3 training that focused on earthquake and fire safety. They also explained and showed the ways on how to extinguish fire from a burning LPG. Fire and earthquake drills were done to culminate the training. 

The three-day training aimed to equip the participants with the basic knowledge and attitude to be able perform the basic life support techniques and become prepared in times of disaster.
