NBSC Participates in Heritage Dialogue and Museum Care Workshop
The Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) joined the recently concluded Heritage Dialogue and Museum Care Workshop held on July 28, 2025, through the participation of Mr. Jan G. Soriano, MA, Information Officer III and Head of the Public Affairs and Information Office.
The workshop, spearheaded by the Bukidnon Studies Center of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) in collaboration with the University of Michigan (UM), aimed to strengthen cultural ties and foster ethical stewardship of indigenous heritage. Sessions led by experts from UM’s Bentley Historical Library and Museum of Anthropological Archaeology provided practical insights on basic collections management, conservation principles, and the importance of community consultation in caring for artifacts.
Through this engagement, NBSC underscores its dedication to programs that safeguard and celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of Bukidnon. By actively supporting initiatives that promote ethical and responsible handling of historical artifacts, documentation of indigenous narratives, and community-based learning, the College strengthens its role not only as an educational institution but also as a steward of local history and artistic legacies.
This participation reflects NBSC’s continuing commitment to empower its students, faculty, and partner communities to value, protect, and pass on the rich cultural identity of Bukidnon to future generations. In connection, this initiative is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly in safeguarding cultural heritage, and SDG 4 – Quality Education, by promoting learning that values local culture and history.
