NBSC AND CCCR-CANADA EXPLORE ESTABLISHMENT OF CLIMATE CHANGE INNOVATION HUB
Building on their recent collaborative momentum, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) hosted Dr. Azizur Rahman from the Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR), University of Toronto, Canada, in a courtesy meeting with NBSC President, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, on September 29, 2025, at The Eliana Farm Resort & Villas, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
The meeting served as a key opportunity for both institutions to solidify their commitment to climate action, sustainability, and innovation. The discussion included Dr. Rahman and Dr. Ganiera, along with Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, NBSC’s Research, Development, and Innovation Division (RDID) Director, and Mr. Melven I. Valmoria, Project Kabilin+ Leader.
The primary focus of the meeting was to explore the possibility of establishing a Climate Change Innovation Hub within the NBSC campus. This pioneering initiative is envisioned to be a learning, research, and capacity-building center dedicated to climate adaptation and mitigation for Bukidnon and the wider region.
The proposed Hub aims to convene researchers, students, policymakers, and local communities to collectively develop solutions for pressing climate challenges. It would also strategically support NBSC by integrating sustainability, research, and community engagement into its core academic and extension programs.
This significant meeting reaffirms NBSC’s expanding role as a hub for sustainable development and environmental innovation in Northern Mindanao, aligning with the Philippines’ national agenda on climate resilience and green growth.
