NBSC PROMOTES PRACTICAL FIRST AID PROFICIENCY
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through the initiative of the Health Services Office (HSO) under the leadership of Mr. Karl Clyde Stephen Acosta, RN, conducted a Standard First Aid Training at the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Office. The activity aimed to strengthen first aid knowledge and enhance emergency response readiness within the campus community.
Serving as trainers were personnel from both the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Manolo Fortich and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Malaybalay City. The team included Clifford John B. Lutrago, Communication Equipment Operator/Responder; Phillip Dexter C. Daclag, Responder; Mayshiel R. Abao, RN, Nurse I (Responder); Roel G. Villar, Focal Person for Water Earth & Rescue/Cadre; Henrix D. Collantes, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Team Leader; and John Spencer R. Garcia, Search and Rescue (SAR) Team Leader. Their combined experience provided both technical guidance and practical instruction throughout the training.
The program began with lectures and demonstrations on essential first aid procedures, followed by a practical exercise on October 16, where participants engaged in hands-on application of the concepts introduced. A simulation on October 17 allowed them to apply learned skills in a structured scenario, emphasizing coordination, proper execution of roles, and response under pressure.
This initiative underscores NBSC’s commitment to fostering a safe and prepared academic community by building vital emergency response skills and strengthening institutional resilience.
