NBSC EARNS REGIONAL COMMENDATION FOR IMPACTFUL TEENAGE PREGNANCY STUDY
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) and Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Director of its Research, Development, and Innovation Division (RDID), have been formally commended by the Regional Development Council Region X (RDC-X) for their recently completed research study.
The formal commendation was approved as Resolution No. 90 (s. 2025) during the 142nd RDC-X Full Council meeting on September 30, 2025. The motion to honor the college and its researcher was put forward by Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Sr., who praised NBSC for its “exemplary contribution to R&D” and its commitment to finding “data-driven, evidence-based solutions” for the region.
This recognition highlights the valuable efforts of the research team led by Dr. Witting-Acuesa as Project Team Leader, together with members Ms. Zandra Shellee Y. Ordinan, Mr. Reynan S. Salo, Ms. Cristine Joy G. Sagaosao, Mr. John Kevin A. Artuz, and Ms. Elaine Marie J. Ombina. The group conducted the R&D study titled “Factors Influencing the Incidence of Teenage Pregnancy in Region X.”
This comprehensive work, conducted in phases during 2022 and 2024, provides critical, evidence-based insights into the root causes of a pressing regional concern.
These critical insights are already being put to use. The study’s findings and actionable recommendations are making an impact, as the RDC-X previously passed a resolution endorsing the study’s policy recommendations to concerned government institutions for their support and appropriate action, highlighting the research’s direct relevance to regional policymaking.
This prestigious acknowledgment from Northern Mindanao’s top development body underscores NBSC’s commitment to producing relevant and impactful research. It affirms the college’s growing role as a key institution in guiding regional policy and addressing real-world challenges through innovation and scholarship.
