The new College of Computer Studies was inaugurated last May 2021; the square shape indicates the central processing unit (CPU) which is the brain of the computer. The 3 areas inside elaborates the technical specialized skills that the college aims to deliver to its students. The three major areas are: Programming, Multimedia, and Internet of Things.

For many years, the College of Computer Studies at Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) had been the cornerstone of ICT education, producing graduates who were technically skilled and academically prepared to enter the growing field of technology.

However, with the arrival of President CHRISTIE JEAN VILLANUEVA-GANIERA, EdD., CESE  and her forward-looking leadership, a new vision began to unfold — one that recognized the rapidly changing demands of the digital world. It was no longer enough to focus solely on traditional computer-related disciplines. There was a need to expand, modernize, and redefine the identity of the institution’s technology program.

This vision led to a bold move: the transformation of the College of Computer Studies into the Institute for Computer Studies (ICS).

The change was more than just a name. It marked a reinvigoration of purpose — to provide a more integrated, innovative, and industry-responsive ICT education. The Institute is now focused not only on technical excellence but also on developing students who can communicate, lead, and adapt in an increasingly complex and connected world.

The Institute for Computer Studies aspires to be a hub of technological advancement and academic excellence, committed to shaping ICT professionals who are globally competitive, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.

Under the guidance of President Christe Jean, ICS stands as a testament to NBSC’s mission of shaping future-ready learners — individuals who are not just prepared for the present, but for the dynamic, digital future that lies ahead.

academic program

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) at Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) under the Institute of Computing Studies (ICS) is a forward-looking program crafted to produce well-rounded, ethical, and globally competitive IT professionals.

This four-year degree program combines theoretical foundations with practical skills in computing and information systems. Students are exposed to modern tools, updated curriculum, and industry-relevant training in areas like:

  • Programming and software development

  • Web and mobile applications

  • Computer networks and system administration

  • Database systems and data management

  • Cybersecurity fundamentals

  • IT infrastructure and project management

Through hands-on laboratory workreal-world projects, and collaboration with industries, students develop critical thinking, technical competence, and adaptability—qualities essential in the ever-evolving tech industry.

Why It’s Great to Take IT Today

  1. High Demand and Global Opportunities
The digital transformation of businesses and governments has made IT one of the most in-demand fields worldwide. Whether locally or abroad, IT professionals are needed in almost every sector—from education and healthcare to business and agriculture.

  2. Versatile and Dynamic Career Paths
IT graduates are not boxed into one job. They can work as software developers, systems analysts, network administrators, cybersecurity specialists, database managers, and more. Plus, the freelance and startup ecosystem is booming for tech professionals.

  3. Innovation and Impact
IT is not just about coding—it’s about solving problemscreating solutions, and changing lives. Students who take IT have the opportunity to innovate systems that benefit their communities and the world at large.

  4. Continuous Learning and Personal Growth
Because technology evolves rapidly, IT fosters a mindset of lifelong learning. Students not only become professionals but adaptive thinkers—ready to learn new skills and technologies as needed.

  5. Empowerment and Accessibility
In a rural and developing region like Bukidnon, taking IT empowers students to bridge digital divides, modernize local industries, and become change agents in their own communities.
