NBSC HONORS PARTNERSHIP AND COMMUNITY IMPACT IN THE CULMINATION OF DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP TRAINING FOR ALS IMPLEMENTERS
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its Institute for Computer Studies (ICS), successfully concluded Phase 3 of its extension project, “Empowering Community ALS Implementers through Digital Citizenship,” during a Culmination Program held at the NBSC Covered Court, January 10, 2026.
The activity formally welcomed community ALS implementers through the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, who underscored NBSC’s role as a community partner. Dr. Delosa highlighted that NBSC’s extension initiatives have made the institution deeply felt in the community, strengthening trust, presence, and shared responsibility in advancing inclusive education.
Implemented in collaboration with the Department of Education – Alternative Learning System (DepEd-ALS), the project focused on Learning Strand 6: Digital Citizenship, equipping ALS implementers with digital, ethical, and pedagogical competencies necessary for effective and responsible teaching in a rapidly digitalizing learning environment.
A key highlight of the program was the calming and inspirational message of the NBSC College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueava-Ganiera, CESE, who shared calming meditative message: “You may be well, you may be happy, you may be loved, you may be at peace.” The message resonated deeply with the completers, symbolizing renewal, resilience, and hope—igniting the true phoenix within each completer as they continue to serve their learners and communities.
The Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE also expressed sincere gratitude to the Institute for Computer Studies, headed by Ms. Shiela Mae M. Orozco, with the dedicated leadership of ICS Extension Coordinator, Ms. Cristine Joy G. Sagaosao, for their commitment to delivering relevant and impactful extension services. Appreciation was likewise extended to Mr. Alven L. Gomez, CESD Designate Director, for steering the project’s implementation and strengthening institutional-community collaboration. She further acknowledged the invaluable partnership of DepEd-ALS, particularly Ms. Kathlea Kristine Delos Santos, ALS Coordinator, and Mr. Alfredo G. Delos Santos, Education Program Specialist, whose guidance and support ensured the alignment of the project with ALS goals and community needs.
The program also featured the keynote address of Mr. Rolly S. Ortiz, Education Program Specialist II, ALS, recognition of participants and stakeholders, and testimonials from ALS teachers who shared the project’s positive impact on their teaching practice and confidence in integrating digital citizenship into learning.
Through this successful culmination, NBSC reaffirms its commitment to inclusive education, digital empowerment, and sustained community partnership, ensuring that quality education reaches even the most underserved learners.
