NBSC BSIT DUO SOLIDIFIES PROVINCIAL WIN WITH OFFICIAL AWARD TURNOVER
Two standout students from Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) officially received their provincial-level accolades for the 2025 Young Farmers Challenge (YFC), marking a pivotal milestone in their journey toward agricultural modernization. Alieza P. Balles and James B. Laag, both fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students, were recognized during a formal turnover ceremony on March 25, 2026, at the Chali Resort and Conference Center in Cagayan de Oro City. The event served as a celebration of their technical expertise and the practical viability of their agribusiness solutions.
The awarding ceremony follows the team’s success during the Provincial Level Judging held in December 2025. The pair received certificates, plaques, and a symbolic dummy check in recognition of their achievement, accompanied by their Institute for Computer Studies (ICS) faculty mentor, Ms. Marchilyn A. Abunda. This financial grant is specifically earmarked for the implementation of their project, ensuring that their conceptual framework moves from the boardroom to the field.
Their winning entry, “Agri-Alalay: Centralized Marketing and Supply Chain Platform for Farmers,” was designed to address specific logistical gaps in the agribusiness sector of Manolo Fortich. By utilizing a centralized digital platform, the project aims to streamline marketing and supply chain systems, providing local farmers with a more efficient way to manage their trade. The technical soundness of the platform was further refined during a strategic consultation on January 15, 2026, where market specialists and experts from the Department of Agriculture (DA) provided feedback to prepare the students for the upcoming regional stage of the competition.
This achievement reflects NBSC’s growing strength in bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application. By cultivating an ecosystem where student creativity is supported by multi-departmental mentorship and local government collaboration, the College continues to prove itself as a hub for practical advancement. Such initiatives not only modernize local industries but also reinforce a culture where intellectual property and student-led problem-solving contribute directly to the sustainable development of the community.
