NBSC CELEBRATES ACHIEVEMENTS IN MONDAY CONVOCATION
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) held its Monday Convocation on October 27, 2025, at the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC). The gathering served as a regular institutional assembly to recognize accomplishments, acknowledge service, and strengthen the collective commitment of the NBSC community toward continued growth and excellence.
Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, SUC President I, led the oath-taking of three newly hired plantilla instructors for the Institute of Teacher Education (ITE): Mr. Dave G. Laga, Ms. Christine S. Tabaco, and Mr. Joseph Joshua M. Palapar.
Ms. Rahbie B. Adaptar-Teologo, RPM, Head of the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), expressed appreciation to the project-based utility workers for their dedicated contributions to the drainage and tree-cutting projects, which improved the campus environment.
Ms. Marie Angeli D. Hagutin, CHRA, MAHRD, announced the 13 On-The-Spot Awards that covered several institutional achievements:
● Student Affairs and Services and Development Division (SASDD) was awarded the Best Implementer in Student Welfare Services by the Council of Student Affairs and Services Practitioners (CSASP) during the 8th CSASP Conference Cum Workshop last August 26-27, 2025 at the Pearlmont Hotel, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
● Ms. Leah Mae S. Cuyno received the Best Presenter Award at the BIMP-EAGA International Conference and Training for the Food Basket Category last August 26-28, 2025.
● Ms. Cuyno and Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, Head of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), represented NBSC in the Early Career Researcher Program of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology in collaboration with the Australian National University on September 1, 2025.
● NBSC was recognized as a founding member during the BIMP – EAGA Conference last August 26-28, 2025, where Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Director of the Research, Development, and Innovation Division (RDID), also appointed as adjudicators during the research presentation of various researchers.
● Dr. Delosa and Mr. Alven L. Gomez completed the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Training Course on Assessment Approaches and Strategies for Mainstreaming GCED in Higher Education last August 23, 2025.
● The Research Paper authored by Dr. Mary Cris J. Go and Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa titled “Experiences of Pre-Service Teachers in High-Stakes Assessments: Implications for Teacher Education” has been published in the Journal of Education and Learning (EduLearn).
● The NBSC has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) in crafting the Subjective Atlas of the Philippines; and a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) University in Mohali, India for several academic windows.
● Mr. Jun Arthur A. Binayao was invited as testimonial speaker at the 1st Northern Mindanao TES Congress held on August 19, 2025.
● Project MOCHA’s success was featured by the team of veteran broadcast journalist Ms. Jing Castañeda.
● Dr. Acuesa was conferred the prestigious NorMin Star Award by the Department of Education (DepEd) Region X – Northern Mindanao and the Regional Development Council of Northern Mindanao (RDC-10) on her research titled “Factors Influencing the Incidence of Teenage Pregnancy in Region X”.
● NBSC established a partnership with the Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR) at the University of Toronto, Canada, which officially launched “Project Kabilin,” a research initiative focused on promoting and preserving local heritage products.
● The NBSC Institute for Computer Studies secured first place during the AI-DEAS for Impact: AI for Developing Ethical and Applicable Solutions hosted by DICT Region X on September 23-24, 2025 in Cagayan de Oro City.
● Successful completion of study titled “Factors Influencing the Incidence of Teenage Pregnancy in Region X” by the RDID team led by Dr. Acuesa, which included Ms. Zandra Shelle Y. Ordinan, Mr. Reynan S. Salo, Ms. Cristine Joy G. Sagaosao, Mr. John Kevin A. Artuz, and Ms. Elaine Marie J. Ombina.
The CSC Career Service Examination passers, Sir Pablito Amor C. Gumonan and Ms. Fretzel Vann L. Ayo-on, were also recognized for their achievement.
During her message, Dr. Ganiera outlined institutional reminders and upcoming events, including the online consultation for the Strategic Enhancement Plan with stakeholders after the convocation. She also announced the following schedule of activities:
• Recollection: November 26–28, 2025 (in three groups)
• Emotional Intelligence (EI) Sessions: December 3–4, 2025
• EI Wrap-Up: December 5, 2025
• Year-End Evaluation and Christmas Party: December 17–19 (Day 2 for celebration)
• Team Building Activities: January 7–9, 2026
• Health and Wellness Kick-Off: January 14, 2026
She reminded everyone that Work and Financial Plan (WFP) and Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) submissions must be completed no later than October 30.
Administrative updates, included the appointment of Mr. Gerard Peter O. Beduya as Head of the Events Management Office; and Mr. Benzar Glen S. Grepon, MIT, as Focal Person, with Ms. Hagutin designated as Coordinator for Anti-Red Tape initiatives. A Public Assistance Counter will be established, and Citizen’s Charters for frontline offices will be implemented by November. Mr. Aldwin Lester M. Martinez was also named Focal Person for Digitization Initiatives in support of the college’s modernization efforts.
Dr. Ganiera further announced that the recognition of exceptional employees will now be held during every convocation, with honorees to be finalized by Wednesday.
Before the program concluded, Dr. Acuesa reminded the 20 faculty participants to proceed to the NBSC Boardroom for their scheduled training session.
The convocation ended on a positive note—celebrating NBSC’s accomplishments, partnerships, and people dedicated to advancing education and service in Northern Bukidnon.
