NBSC FUELS INNOVATION: 12 RESEARCH PROPOSALS UNDERGO 2027 IN-HOUSE REVIEW
Strengthening its commitment to academic excellence and societal impact, Northern Bukidnon State College’s Research Development and Innovation Division (NBSC-RDID), headed by Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, conducted the 2027 In-house Review and Evaluation of Research Proposals today, April 1, 2026, via Zoom.
This significant event serves as a critical platform for faculty researchers to present their upcoming projects, which represent a collective journey toward academic excellence and societal relevance. This year’s review features twelve (12) endorsed submissions that aim to address pressing regional challenges while aligning with the College’s vision of becoming a recognized institution for inclusive, culturally responsive, and sustainable higher education.
In an inspiring message to the researchers, College President Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE, emphasized that research at NBSC is both a professional milestone and a personal mission to uplift communities. President Ganiera noted that despite being preoccupied with various duties, the faculty’s presence manifested a shared responsibility in achieving the institution’s vision.
“Your proposals are seeds, while the evaluation process is the soil and water that will help them grow into impactful solutions,” President Ganiera shared, encouraging researchers to embrace expert feedback with an open mind to move from “good” to “transformative”.
President Ganiera categorized the twelve (12) proposals into four (4) pillars that align with the College’s vision. To promote inclusivity, the focus remains on reaching the underserved in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) through studies on community-level antimicrobial resistance and the struggles of college students. NBSC remains culturally responsive by challenging “one-size-fits-all” standards, localizing intelligence testing norms and investigating the ethical integration of Generative AI within Northern Mindanao. Building sustainable higher education is addressed through modeling teacher performance and enhancing student engagement via interactive platforms. Finally, nurturing holistic growth serves as a vital foundation, emphasizing the development of the human person through kindness curricula and social-emotional learning.
The Administration, RDID team, and participants welcomed esteemed external evaluators: Dr. Angelo Mark P. Walag from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and Engr. Jon Michael A. Semilla from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office 10. Their expertise ensures that these findings do not remain on paper but are used by industry and partners to drive real-world change.
As these projects begin their journey toward 2027 implementation, NBSC continues to foster a vibrant research culture where curiosity is nurtured, and rigorous inquiry is the standard.
