NBSC Honors Student Excellence and Gratitude During 2025 Recognition Day
On August 4, 2025, the Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) community came together to celebrate not just academic success, but the stories, sacrifices, and spirit behind every student’s journey during its 2025 Recognition Day held at the Manolo Fortich Municipal Gymnasium.
The annual celebration gathered families, faculty, and staff in a warm and festive atmosphere as the college recognized students for their academic achievements, leadership, and meaningful contributions to campus life.
This year’s honorees included students who excelled academically, student leaders and officers who excelled in their community service and organizational contributions, and individuals whose efforts uplifted the NBSC campus life, embodying excellence and integrity.
Among the many memorable moments of the program was a touching message from NBSC President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE. She shared a story that many were able to relate with: about a daughter so busy with work that she hardly had time to sit down for a meal with her father. One evening, the father asked how much she earns and if he can borrow some money. She was confused and slightly offended—since she regularly supported him financially. What the father said next left her speechless: “I’d like to borrow enough money to pay you for your time, just to have dinner with you.”
The story brought tears to many eyes and served as a powerful reminder to cherish the people who matter most. Dr. Ganiera reminded students that while achievements are worth celebrating, time, love, and presence are far more valuable.
Guest speaker Mr. Rio Aldi A. Dompol also inspired students with his own life story—marked by hard work, faith, and service. He encouraged the graduates to walk forward with confidence, stay grounded in their roots, and carry with them a heart for others.
But perhaps the most emotional part of the day was the Tribute to Parents. As a tradition during Recognition Day, students sang a heartfelt song dedicated to their families, then approached their parents with framed graduation photos as a simple but powerful token of thanks. Many parents held back tears, others didn’t. It was a moment of love, gratitude, and shared triumph.
Recognition Day stands as a powerful testament to NBSC’s educational vision. Beyond awarding academic achievement, the event celebrates personal development, community leadership, and the college’s role in fostering locally rooted, globally aware graduates.
The event culminates a year of perseverance, dedication, and growth among students. It also serves as a reminder of the partnership between NBSC and the Municipality of Manolo Fortich in advancing educational access and civic engagement for youth in Northern Bukidnon.
