NBSC INAUGURATES INDIGENOUS CULTURE AND CREATIVE INNOVATION HUB
A new milestone in culture-driven innovation was marked on March 2, 2026, as Northern Bukidnon State College, through its Research Development and Innovation Division, formally blessed and inaugurated the Indigenous Culture and Creative Innovation Hub – a pioneering space where heritage, creativity, and technology converge.
The Indigenous Culture and Creative Innovation Hub, or simply called “the Hub”, reflects a continuing vision of institutional growth that was initiated during the term of former College President Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, who introduced the concept of a center that integrates indigenous heritage with modern innovation. Building on this foundation, current College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, advanced and strengthened the project to completion, affirming the College’s sustained commitment to research excellence, cultural integrity, and transformative community engagement.
Envisioned as a laboratory-cum-gallery, the Hub is designed to integrate culture, arts, technology, and enterprise into one multifunctional creative ecosystem. It provides experiential learning spaces for students in Indigenous Creative Crafts, Technology for Teaching and Learning, Social Enterprise, Information Technology, Communication Arts, Business Administration, and others.
By coalescing science and art, the Hub strengthens the College’s mission to foster innovation grounded in cultural heritage. It serves not only as an academic space but also as a catalyst for impactful and scalable creative ventures that can respond to the needs of government agencies, private enterprises, and industries across Mindanao and beyond. Through this initiative, NBSC reinforces its role as a center for transformative education that bridges indigenous knowledge systems with modern technological advancement.
The artistic vision of the Hub was masterfully designed by Louie Talents, a Filipino artist based in France, whose design concept reflects a seamless harmony between cultural authenticity and contemporary aesthetics. The structure itself symbolizes innovation rooted in identity – a physical embodiment of the College’s aspiration to nurture creativity that honors the past while shaping the future.
With the opening of the Indigenous Culture and Creative Innovation Hub, Northern Bukidnon State College affirms its enduring commitment to cultural preservation, academic excellence, and research-driven innovation – ensuring that tradition and technology move forward together in building a more inclusive and creative future for Bukidnon, Mindanao, and the nation.
