NBSC Kicks Off Business Month with Ideas Generation Seminar
In celebration of Business Month, the Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), through its Community Extension and Services Division (CESD) under the Institute for Business Management (IBM), launched the month-long observance with a Business Ideas Generation Seminar on July 2, 2025. The event was made possible in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Manolo Fortich, the Manolo Fortich Negosyo Center, the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region X, and the Manolo Fortich Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MFCCII).
Held on the 2nd floor of the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC), the seminar is part of a series of business development workshops scheduled throughout the month. Students, alumni, and aspiring entrepreneurs from various barangays gathered to explore the possibilities of launching their business ventures.
Representing Hon. Rogelio N. Quiño, Municipal Mayor of Manolo Fortich, Miss Lorraine A. Requinton, head of LEDIPO and manager of the Negosyo Center, warmly welcomed the participants. She emphasized the importance of supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to foster a circular economy. She shared that “the birth of entrepreneurs” is key to breaking the cycle of debt and achieving financial independence. Miss Requinton also inspired the audience with success stories of local entrepreneurs who began with limited resources but rose to sustainable success through innovation and perseverance.
The seminar’s main resource speaker, Mr. Jayson L. Albarracin, Business Counselor at the Department of Trade and Industry, delivered an insightful session covering vital topics such as How to Start a Business, The 10 Personal Entrepreneurial Characteristics (PECs), and Techniques in Generating Business Ideas. His talk aimed to equip attendees with the mindset, tools, and confidence to take the first step toward entrepreneurship.
This initiative supports the college’s commitment to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 1: No Poverty
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Through continued collaboration with local stakeholders, NBSC remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities by fostering entrepreneurial spirit and sustainable economic growth.
