NBSC, MANOLO FORTICH POLICE CONDUCT ACTIVE SHOOTER SAFETY ORIENTATION
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), in partnership with the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station (MF-MPS), conducted a School Safety Orientation on Active Shooter Incidents on October 12, 2026, during the Monday morning convocation at the campus covered court.
Mr. Fritchar H. Gevero, head of the Campus Safety Management Office (CSMO), discussed crisis management during an active shooter incident. He reminded the participants to be attentive to students’ well-being, noting that concerns such as bullying and family problems should not be overlooked. He also stressed the need to take possible threats seriously and report them to the proper authorities.
Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg.) Judy Lou D. Hisem of the MF-MPS, whom Mr. Gevero introduced as the guest speaker, discussed school safety and what to do during an active shooter incident. He emphasized that prompt reporting and complete information from those who witness or report a threat can help the police respond appropriately.
PSSg. Hisem also explained the basic actions to take during an active shooter incident: Run to a safe location if possible, Hide in a secure place if escape is not possible, and Report the incident to the authorities. He reminded the participants that protecting lives should always be the priority during such emergencies.
Through this activity, NBSC and the MF-MPS continue to work together to raise awareness of campus safety and help students and personnel prepare for possible emergencies. The orientation also reminded the school community of the importance of staying alert and reporting threats before they lead to harm.
