NBSC RESEARCH TEAM INITIATES COURTESY CALL FOR MICROENTERPRISE STUDY
A research team from Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) conducted a courtesy call with the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Manolo Fortich on March 20, 2026, marking a key step in the localized implementation of their research initiative.
The visit formally introduced the study titled “Developing a Community-Based Business Model Framework for Microenterprises in the Barangays of Manolo Fortich,” led by Project Leader Dr. Sheilou Amor B. Ubagan. She was joined by Assistant Project Leader Ms. Roseanne B. Lontian, MBA, and Component Leaders Ms. Niñan Grace L. Paña, MBA, and Ms. Mary Grace D. Balagan, all of whom are driving this initiative to bridge the gap between academic theory and rural economic reality.
During the courtesy call, the office of Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño expressed full support for the initiative, even as the mayor attended to other pressing official engagements. The local government unit’s endorsement was immediate, with the research team being formally referred to the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), headed by Ms. Mae Simbahon, and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO), represented by Ms. Rhenna Tabat. These strategic connections established during the visit are designed to facilitate seamless data collection and ensure that the researchers have direct access to the operational data and lived experiences of local micro-entrepreneurs.
The primary goal of the study is to describe current operational practices and identify the unique challenges and community-based values that influence business sustainability in the barangays. By documenting these localized coping strategies, the proponents aim to develop a customized framework that empowers small-scale businesses to thrive within their specific social and economic contexts. This collaboration, solidified during the courtesy call, highlights the essential synergy between academic inquiry and local governance in fostering inclusive regional growth.
This initiative reflects NBSC’s commitment to fostering a culture where personnel are encouraged to lead original, high-impact investigations. By securing such high-level coordination, the College reinforces its capacity for breakthrough discoveries and evidence-based problem-solving that directly serves the province. This success validates its role as a center for practical knowledge, ensuring that the spirit of investigation remains a primary engine for both institutional advancement and meaningful social transformation.
