NBSC SCHOLAR COMMENCES PRESTIGIOUS GLOBAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN INDIA
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) faculty-researcher Mr. Melven I. Valmoria officially arrived in India on June 9, 2026, to commence his residency for the prestigious Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (2026-2027). Conferred by O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) – an institution recognized as an “Institution of Eminence” and ranked as India’s top private university – this highly competitive award selects outstanding early-career researchers globally to collaborate within a multidisciplinary academic environment. Mr. Valmoria’s arrival marks the beginning of a month-long residency of the one-year program focused on advanced research development, international collaboration, and academic networking.
Following his arrival, Mr. Valmoria transitioned directly into a dynamic first week running from June 10-14, 2026, which balanced institutional integration with high level academic engagement. His fellowship journey opened with an official inaugural ceremony, followed by comprehensive onboarding sessions with university offices, a global library orientation, and an immersive campus tour detailing the JGU story. Throughout the week, he actively participated in academic inductions, a roundtable session regarding artificial intelligence governance policies, specialized LegalTech application workshops, and research writing seminars hosted by the Centre for Writing Studies. These foundational sessions directly support a core fellowship mandate requiring the publication of at least one research paper in a Scopus-indexed journal.
In addition to academic pursuits, the initial week provided a robust lineup of wellness activities and cultural integration designed to provide a well-rounded international residency. Mr. Valmoria engaged with the campus community through physical wellness sessions, including Indian folk and semi-classical dance classes, yoga, and aqua zumba at the Naveen Jindal Sports Academy. His cultural introduction to the region extended beyond the university gates with an authentic heritage dinner experience at Chokhi Dhani, culminating in a weekend cultural immersion excursion to the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra.
This milestone achievement carries profound implications for NBSC’s strategic vision to elevate its institutional capacity for knowledge creation, scientific inquiry, and academic advancement. By placing a Filipino scholar into an elite global network, the college effectively builds international visibility and establishes an inspiring benchmark for its entire academic community. Through this global engagement, Mr. Valmoria’s participation fosters a vibrant internal ecosystem where high-impact scholarship can thrive, reinforcing the institution’s collective commitment to producing rigorous knowledge that is globally competitive yet locally meaningful.
