OVPAA AND CID HOST FIRESIDE CHAT FOR FACULTY SEMESTRAL ASSEMBLY
Northern Bukidnon State College’s Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (NBSC-OVPAA), in collaboration with the Curriculum and Instruction Division (CID), successfully conducted a Fireside Chat during the Faculty Semestral Assembly on April 15, 2026, at the NBSC Covered Court. The event gathered faculty members from various academic units to foster collaboration, reflection, and professional growth.
Anchored on the theme, “Faculty Engagement, Professional Reflection, and Practices”, the assembly underscored the importance of strengthening faculty involvement while cultivating a culture of reflective teaching and continuous improvement. It provided a platform for educators to reconnect, exchange insights, and align their academic priorities for the second semester.
Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs, formally opened the program and presented its rationale. She emphasized the importance of creating spaces for open dialogue, reflective practice, and active faculty participation in institutional development.
A key highlight of the event was the message of College President, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, who encouraged faculty members to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence in teaching, innovation, and service. She also engaged participants through facilitative questions, inviting them to share insights on how they can become more responsive to the College’s three strategic goals: (1) Governance and Resource Management, (2) Academic Excellence and Student-Centered Innovation, and (3) Research, Extension, and Innovation. Her approach reflected the institution’s commitment to transparent and transformative leadership.
Further enriching the discussion, Mr. John Kevin A. Artuz, MS, Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered a talk titled “Iconnect: Bridging Everyday Professional Experience”, emphasizing the integration of daily teaching practices into broader institutional and professional contexts, as well as the value of commitment to professionalism.
Additionally, Dr. Mary Cris J. Go presented the Program Enhancement initiative, including the proposal of five new academic programs, signaling the College’s continued growth and responsiveness to emerging educational needs.
The fireside chat featured insights from key academic leaders, including Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Director of the Research Development and Innovation Division (RDID); Mr. Alven L. Gomez, Director of the Community Extension Services Division (CESD); and Ms. Rowena Bagongon, Director of the Student Affairs, Services, and Development Division (SASDD).
Dr. Christine C. Royo, Head of the Institute for Teacher Education (ITE), shared best practices in instructional delivery, including course methodologies, content pedagogy, assessment strategies, and practicum evaluations. Meanwhile, Ms. Shiela Orozco, Head of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS), highlighted the institute’s strong support for research initiatives, with ten capstone studies set for presentation at USTP.
Representing the Institute of Business Management (IBM) on behalf of Institute Head Ma. Cassandra Ragandang-Tubongbanua, Ms. Teofanny Siton presented faculty engagement initiatives such as “Pag-han ay” and “Pag Lig-ON”, alongside regular meetings, peer evaluations, business literacy programs, conferences, IBM Days, and the Kaalam Expo conducted each semester.
Ms. Love Manginsay, Head of the Department of General Education Curricula, emphasized the department’s resilience over the past five years through consistent collaboration, consultative sessions, and active faculty participation in institutional activities.
During the assembly, faculty members also expressed their collective aspirations for the institution and recognized the leadership’s commitment to wellness and emotional intelligence in the workplace.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among participants, reinforcing NBSC’s commitment to academic excellence through active engagement, reflective practice, and collaborative leadership.
