NBSC PROMOTES SAFER SPACES AND RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH ANTI-HAZING FORUM
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) conducted a ๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข-๐๐๐ณ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ on February 11, 2026, at the 1st Floor Lobby of the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC) Building. Spearheaded by the Student Discipline Office (SDO) with the support of the Student Affairs, Services, and Development Division (SASDD), the activity formed part of the Collegeโs ongoing initiatives related to student conduct and welfare.
Rowena E. Bagongon, MA, Director of the SASDD, delivered a special message during the program. She conveyed her support for efforts that encourage awareness and reflection on matters affecting the student community.
Heterae C. Dairo introduced the invited speakers. The first speaker, Atty. Jag Iesu Iรฑigo G. Murillo, CPA, REB, Head of the Legal Office, provided a discussion on Republic Act 11053, otherwise known as the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018. He highlighted the lawโs main points and stressed the need for a clear grasp of the rules and their implications for campus activities.
Jo Augustine G. Corpus, MAGC, RGC, Head of the Guidance and Counselling Office (GCO), delivered a talk titled โBelonging Without Harm: Finding Connection Without Compromise.โ The discussion examined the dynamics of group affiliation and highlighted that violence is not a prerequisite to belonging.
In his closing remarks, Adonis J. Onahon, MBA, MPA, Head of the SDO and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) Coordinator, underscored that genuine brotherhood or sisterhood is not measured by how much pain one can endure. He urged the campus community to cultivate safe spaces where relationships are shaped by genuine care and concern.
Through initiatives such as this forum, NBSC continues to strengthen awareness and thoughtful participation within its academic community. By integrating legal guidance with conversations on values and belonging, the College sustains an environment where involvement in student organizations remains aligned with principled and responsible conduct.
