Northern Bukidnon State College’s Institute for Business Management (NBSC-IBM) successfully completed its three-day data-gathering activity for the research project entitled “Developing a Community-Based Resilient Enterprise Development Model for Sustainable Barangay Microenterprises,” conducted from August 11 to 13, 2026, across 11 rural barangays of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
The data-gathering activities were conducted in Dicklum, Santo Niño, Mantibugao, Minsuro, Santiago, Guilang-guilang, Maluko, Mampayag, Lindaban, Sankanan, and Ticala, with the participation and support of the respective Punong Barangays, Barangay Councils, microenterprise owners, and other community stakeholders.
The activity was led by Project Leader Dr. Sheilou Amor B. Ubagan, together with Project Assistant Roseanne B. Lontian and project members Niñan Grace L. Pana, Ma. Jeneza C. Guitarte, and Mary Grace D. Balagan. The research team conducted the necessary data-gathering activities and engaged with community members to document their experiences, practices, challenges, and insights relevant to the development of sustainable and resilient barangay microenterprises.
The research team extends its sincere appreciation to all the Punong Barangays, Barangay Councils, microenterprise owners, participants, and community partners for their warm welcome, valuable time, cooperation, and willingness to share their experiences and perspectives. Their support and active participation were instrumental in the successful completion of the three-day activity and in generating meaningful evidence for the development of a community-based, resilient, and sustainable enterprise development model.
The completion of the data-gathering activity marks an important milestone in the research project as the team continues to analyze and integrate the information gathered from the participating communities. The findings are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the needs, capacities, challenges, and opportunities of barangay microenterprises and contribute to the development of an appropriate enterprise development model grounded in local realities.
Through research that is responsive to the experiences and needs of local communities, NBSC-IBM continues to strengthen its commitment to producing relevant knowledge, supporting evidence-based development initiatives, and contributing to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable community development.
