NBSC and IPOPHL collaborates on the College Intellectual Property Policy

NBSC headed by the College President Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, in collaboration with Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) drafted the NBSC Institutional Intellectual Property Policy during the Pagbansay Series No.8: Intellectual Property Development Workshop held last July 24-28, 2023 at the Conference Hall, Dreams Residences in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

In a recent development, the directors, faculty and researchers of the Northern Bukidnon State State College (NBSC) convened to draft the College intellectual property policy. The drafting process was facilitated by the IPOPHL National Chief of the Documentation, Information, and Technology Transfer Bureau, Professor Adrian Sablan, together with Intellectual Property Specialist Engr. Aldrex Aviso as resource speakers and plenary facilitators.

The collaborative effort was aimed at establishing a comprehensive and relevant institutional intellectual property policy that is aligned with NBSC’s vision, mission and goals. By working with IPOPHL, renowned for its expertise in the domain of intellectual property policy, NBSC ensures that its policy is following the national and international standards.

During the 5-day activity, the participants actively shared their ideas and insights in the discussions and deliberations. Their collective expertise and insights helped in shaping the institutional intellectual property policy, which will govern the ownership, protection, and commercialization of intellectual property of the institution. The involvement of IPOPHL added valuable technical guidance on the process of drafting NBSC’s own intellectual property policy.

The NBSC Research and Extension Office headed by Director Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas and Director Alven Gomez who organized the Pagbansay Series, a research capacity-building workshop series, were extremely thankful for the full support of Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa and Dr. Helen E. Maasin who were instrumental for the success of the activity.
