Northern Bukidnon State College Conducts Training on Basic Attending Skills and Psychosocial Processing
April 22, 2025 – Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon* – Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) successfully hosted a training workshop on Basic Attending Skills and Psychosocial Processing on April 22, 2025. The event took place at the Research Laboratory within the NBSC campus, attended by the dedicated Ginhawa Responders, a core group of the Pag-amuma Ginhawa Extension (PGX). Comprising faculty members, administrators, and non-teaching personnel, this group is committed to fostering community service and development.
The training aimed to equip the Ginhawa Responders with essential knowledge and skills for providing effective psychosocial support to the community. Despite the chilly temperature in the Research Laboratory, the atmosphere was vibrant and filled with enthusiasm as participants engaged in learning various techniques and strategies to assist individuals from diverse backgrounds facing unique challenges.
Dr. Yayetta De La Peña, a distinguished expert in the field, shared valuable insights that resonated deeply with the participants: “When responding to the community, we do not need to be interesting; what we need is to be interested.” This memorable takeaway served to empower the Ginhawa Responders as they prepare to deliver respectful and empathetic psychosocial support services.
Northern Bukidnon State College and the Ginhawa Responders extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Nerissa R. Buot, RPsy, Dr. Yayetta De La Peña, RPsy, Ms. Jhoanna Marie M. Mocorro, RPsy, and the facilitators from the Department of Health – Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Region 10 in Cagayan de Oro for sharing their gifts of time, person and presence, resources, and expertise during the training.
Additionally, PGX expresses sincere appreciation for the unwavering support of the College Executives: Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, College President; Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Helen E. Maasin, Vice President for Administration and Finance. Their commitment to promoting employee development and community extension initiatives significantly contributes to the growth of both the institution and the communities it serves.
