NBSC CELEBRATES 5TH CONVERSION ANNIVERSARY: MOLDING MINDS, MAKING MILESTONES
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) commemorated its 5th Conversion Anniversary alongside the delivery of the annual State of the College Address at the Manolo Fortich Municipal Gymnasium. With the theme “A Journey of Progress: Defining NBSC’s Future,” the occasion brought together institutional leaders, personnel, students, and esteemed guests to reflect on accomplishments and reinforce the college’s enduring commitment to accessible, relevant, and transformative education.
The program began with the entrance of administrative and academic officials, followed by the Entrance of Colors, led by NBSC’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and Mr. John Mark L. Boyonas. An ecumenical prayer was offered by Dr. Rolan L. Mancha, Mr. Adonis J. Onahon, and Ms. Faisah S. Bacarat.
The NBSC Quadro Tono performed a heartfelt song of praise, preceding the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Manolo Fortich Hymn, and the Bukidnon Hymn. An audio-visual presentation (AVP) followed, showcasing the institution’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Core Values.
A series of four cultural dance performances highlighted the richness of local heritage and pride, complementing the historical overview that traced the institution’s journey from Northern Bukidnon Community College (NBCC) to its present status as a state college. Ms. Ma. Socorro T. Bonita, College Registrar III, formally read Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Resolution No. 720 – 2020, which documented the Commission En Banc’s approval of NBCC’s conversion into NBSC.
A symbolic institutional tribute ceremony followed. Mr. Benzar Glen S. Grepon, President of the Non-Teaching Personnel Association (NTPA), carried the college mace. The academic banners were presented by designated bearers, while Hon. Julius D. Gabinete, NBSC Faculty Association President, carried the Anniversary Cake, and Hon. Malou Saguilongan-Armilla, NBSC Alumni Association President, presented the Commemorative Bouquet.
The Commemorative Candle was lit by Hon. Dwight Ferdinand C. Navarro, Central Student Government (CSG) President and Student Trustee, and ceremonially blown by Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, SUC President I, on behalf of the entire college. A closing benediction was offered with the participation of all NBSC employees.
A presentation of the medallion to Dr. Ganiera signified her leadership role before she took the stage for her official State of the College Address. In her message, she outlined the institution’s achievements and accomplishments, reaffirming her dedication to its continued progress. She emphasized:
“I am steadfast in my commitment to advancing the college’s vision, mission, and goals while addressing the challenges before us. However, I cannot do this alone. I need each of you, because together, as one united institution and one NBSC family, we will continue to create lasting, meaningful change for our students, and the communities that we are privileged to serve.”
The celebration was further distinguished by the presence of former Congresswoman Maria Lourdes Acosta-Alba, who extended her congratulations and encouraged the NBSC community to uphold its core values and institutional ideals. Dr. Ganiera presented a bouquet in appreciation of her support.
The program concluded with the performance of the NBSC Hymn. Subsequently, the academic and administrative officials proceeded with the formal recessional and exit.
Looking ahead, NBSC remains committed to progress rooted in its identity and aspirations. Guided by enduring values and a collective sense of mission, the institution upholds the belief that education changes everything because it creates futures, transforms lives, created by God.
