COMMISSIONER ONG CHALLENGES NBSC STUDENT LEADERS TO USE THEIR POSITIONS FOR POSITIVE CHANGE
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) student leaders took part in the Kamustahan with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Michelle Aguilar Ong on October 6, 2026, at the Student Welfare and Development Center (SWDC) Building 1st Floor Lobby, where Commissioner Ong encouraged them to use their positions to advance change within the NBSC community.
During the discussion, Commissioner Ong shared her perspective on the responsibility that comes with representing the student body. She urged the participants to make full use of the platforms entrusted to them, act on issues that matter to their peers, and leave a mark through the work they carry out.
The exchange also included an open forum, giving the student representatives an opportunity to raise concerns and engage directly with the commissioner on matters relevant to their roles.
Student Trustee Norman Tuto, representing the participants, expressed his appreciation to Commissioner Ong for the conversation and guidance. He acknowledged the challenge she placed before them and conveyed their commitment to do what they can to live up to it.
The activity was facilitated by the Student Affairs, Services, and Development Division (SASDD), with the support of College President Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE.
Through the Kamustahan, NBSC’s student representatives gained a clearer sense of how their platforms can be put to work for the wider campus community. The insights shared during the gathering can carry forward into their initiatives and decisions, strengthening a student voice that contributes to a more responsive and engaged college environment.
