NBSC Conducts Fire Drill and Rescue Training to Promote Preparedness and Unity
In a proactive effort to foster preparedness and enhance disaster response capabilities, Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) conducted a fire drill and rescue training on May 06, 2025, anchored on the theme, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi ka Nag-iisa.” The event brought together faculty members, non-teaching staff, emergency personnel, and students, all united in promoting safety and social responsibility within the academic community.
Dr. Helen E. Maasin, Vice President for Administration and Finance, opened the activity with an inspiring message on collective responsibility.

Fire Officer I Steve Lawrence P. Pireno, the resource speaker from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)—Manolo Fortich—shared essential insights on fire safety, including the correct use of fire extinguishers. The BFP team, under the leadership of Acting Municipal Fire Marshal SFO2 Cheryle T. Lachica, also facilitated a fire drill to simulate a real-life emergency response.
Representing the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), Gina G. Olano (LDRRMO III—Head) encouraged future partnerships with NBSC and suggested rescue training programs for students to strengthen community resilience. Other key emergency personnel were also present during the activity.
The event was successfully organized through the coordination of the NBSC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit, led by Mr. Fritchar Gevero, in collaboration with various stakeholders, with the emphasis and support of the College President, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE.
This initiative reflects NBSC’s commitment to building a safer and more prepared academic environment through continuous education, collaboration, and community engagement.
