NBSC, DepEd Region X sign MoU for research project titled “Distance Learning Solutions for Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS) during the Pandemic”
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), led by Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, College President, collaborated with the Department of Education (DepEd) Region X for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony. The ceremony, which took place on November 23, 2023, at Saddle Ridge Camp Dahilayan in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, marked the start of a research project titled “Distance Learning Solutions for Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS) during the Pandemic.”
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, the Project Leader and the NBSC Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Helen E. Maasin, NBSC Vice-President of Administration and Finance. They were joined by the NBSC research team, which included the Assistant Project Leader, Dr. Christine C. Royo, and the Component Leaders, Ms. Helen B. Ajon, Mr. Jo Augustine G. Corpuz, and Mr. Kim-Lee B. Domingo. Additionally, the Department of Education Region X delegation, led by Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, included Dr. Ricardo G. Dragon and Atty. Candice Zennia R. Razon.
This collaborative project aims to address challenges faced by geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The research initiative seeks to narrow the digital divide and ensure quality education for all learners, regardless of their location or circumstances, through innovative distance learning solutions.
Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, NBSC President, expressed gratitude for the partnership and emphasized the College’s commitment to quality education and community development.
Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, Regional Director of the DepEd Region X, praised the collaboration, highlighting the significance of joint efforts in transforming education delivery for disadvantaged areas.
