NBSC-GADO HIGHLIGHTS HISTORICAL ACCOUNTABILITY THROUGH MALAYA LOLAS DOCUMENTARY VIDEOS
Northern Bukidnon State College’s Gender and Development Office (NBSC-GADO) facilitated the cascading of the Malaya Lolas documentary videos on April 30, 2026, at the NBSC Covered Court, in line with Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Resolution (VI) No. A2026-003, titled “Gender Ombud Policy Advisory on the Call for Full Reparation, Including Recognition, Redress, and Official Apology for the Malaya Lolas.”
The activity is part of PASUNDAYAG – Hibla ng Kultura hosted by the Department of General Curricula (DGEC), and is aimed to raise awareness on the continuing call for justice, recognition, and full reparation for the Malaya Lolas, survivors of wartime sexual violence during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines.
The presentation placed the Malaya Lolas’ experiences within broader discussions on human rights and historical accountability. It likewise complemented the College’s ongoing efforts to incorporate significant social issues into its academic and advocacy work.
Through GADO, NBSC reinforced its commitment to promoting human rights awareness and social responsibility within its community. The engagement encouraged reflection on how unresolved injustices continue to echo in the present, contributing to a campus culture grounded in informed understanding and sustained attentiveness to real-world concerns.
