Manolo Fortich Bukidnon – The Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) Research and Extension Office spearheaded the conduct of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the institutional and human resource capability development programs of the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD). The activity was held at Chali Beach Resort and Conference Center, Cagayan de Oro City last November 4, 2022.

The program was attended by the NBSC faculty researchers led by the College President, Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, the Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Helen E. Maasin, and Research and Extension Director, Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas.

Engr. Maria Theresa Isla-Cabaraban, PhD, a Science and Technology Fellow under the Human Resources and Institution Development Division (HRIDD) of DOST-PCIEERD, facilitated the FGD.

The activity was designed to collect inputs from the NBSC faculty researchers regarding the Research & Development (R&D) ecosystem, problems, and potential solutions from regional perspectives. The FGD guided the researchers to recognize needs, available resources, as well as the barriers and promoting factors with regard to R&D management in the organization. These inputs can be proposed into the programs to better respond to the actual needs.

The FGD included a presentation and an open forum of the HRID Programs of PCIEERD. This is in preparation for PCIEERD’s HRID various Call for Proposals.
