NBSC Participates in CHED-Led Workshop on SUC Governance and Legal Protocols
BALER, AURORA – More than 20 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) under the supervision of CHED Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III gathered in Baler, Aurora, from April 28 to 30, 2025, for a high-level training-workshop on SUC Board Protocols, Legal Procedures, and Gender-Sensitive Governance. The event was organized by the Office of Commissioner Apag, in partnership with the Office of the Solicitor General and the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT).
The three-day workshop was attended by Board Secretaries, Legal Officers, and Gender and Development (GAD) personnel from 23 SUCs. It aimed to enhance participants’ competencies in board governance, legal compliance, and the implementation of gender-responsive policies within their institutions. Sessions were led by legal experts from the Office of the Solicitor General and CHED’s Legal and Legislative Service.
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) was represented by College and Board Secretary Caroline Laarni R. Serenas and Ms. Adellane Joy T. Resoor, administrative staff from the Office of the President. The training provided NBSC with an opportunity to align internal protocols with national governance standards, particularly in the areas of transparency, ethical leadership, and proper board documentation.
“This training reinforced the importance of Completed Staff Work (CSW), proper agenda preparation, and legal precision in the conduct of board meetings,” said Secretary Serenas. “It also strengthened our resolve to institutionalize gender-sensitive and legally sound protocols across NBSC.”
Beyond knowledge enhancement, the event also served as a venue for strengthening inter-SUC collaboration, encouraging continued peer support among legal, administrative, and GAD officers.
